Subsea Equipment Design and Package Engineering Services

Atteris can design or package-engineer the full spectrum of subsea equipment. We design subsea structures and we provide package-engineering services for procurement of vendor-supplied equipment including xmas trees, connectors, controls and umbilicals.

Structures

Atteris’ structural designs always consider installability, resulting in safe designs with minimal installed cost.

Our engineers work together in multidisciplinary teams to produce the safest and highest value designs, from concept design to detailed design to rigging and seafastenings.

We perform the full spectrum of a structure’s design including process engineering definition (PFDs, P&IDs, line size calculations, etc.), material selection, piping stress analysis, structural design, geotechnical design of foundations, sea-fastening, rigging design and installation analysis.

Package Engineering Services for Vendor-Supplied Equipment

Xmas trees and their associated equipment packages are all too often on a project schedule’s critical path. Atteris’ personnel have decades of experience in this process. Our package engineers will ensure that there is sufficient technical definition of the subsea equipment vendor package during tender phase, and our package engineers help our clients to manage the equipment vendor throughout the procurement process.

Umbilical Package Engineering

Atteris’ personnel have decades of experience in ensuring that there is sufficient technical definition of the umbilical package during tender phase, and our package engineers help our clients to manage the equipment vendor throughout the procurement process.

New Technology Development and Qualification

Whilst proven technologies are always preferred, sometimes the high rewards of a new technology justify the technical risk. Atteris is highly experienced with developing and qualifying new technologies in accordance with DNVGL-RP-A203.

Sometimes a deviation from a conventional design code can add huge value to a project, without the need for full technology qualification processes. Atteris regularly helps our clients through design verification processes to get a design (and appropriate design code deviations) approved by a verification body.

Decommissioning

Recovering decommissioned equipment requires a lot of risks to be managed, especially if the equipment is corroded and/or otherwise damaged and/or contaminated (either chemical or radioactive materials).
Atteris is experienced in assessing the condition of a structure/flowline/umbilical proposed equipment and defining the most cost-effective solutions for decontamination and recovery. We have:

  • Assessed and selected decontamination methods
  • Assessed structure padeye conditions to determine suitability for recover lift
  • Determined recovery and laydown tables for flexible risers and mooring chains
  • Determined the on-bottom stability of flexible risers when laid down on the seabed
  • Developed and described the disconnection process of flexibles risers and moorings from a riser turret mooring, including ballasting requirements
