A life extension for the 12-inch CIP was then undertaken in according with the process outlined in ISO/TS 12747. Assessment of the pipeline current condition, operational history and predicted future operational conditions was undertaken.
The operational history for the 12-inch CIP system included several changes due to the commissioning of additional assets and the disconnection of other assets. Throughout the assessment it was necessary to be cognisant of this and ensure appropriate data was reviewed. Additionally, the operating regime of the CIP was modified throughout its design life and these changes were also considered within the assessment.
This assessment allowed the risks for future operations to be determined and ensure that suitable measures are in place to manage these risks. Atteris determined that the pipeline could be fit for service for the planned extended service duration.
