Dorado SURF FEED

Dorado SURF FEED

Benefits
Following on from pre-FEED and Early FEED work previously performed, Atteris provided FEED engineering support to Santos for the SURF package of the Dorado project. This exercise allowed further definition of the flexible flowline and riser system and identified potential challenges to focus on during Detailed Design.
Background
The Santos Dorado field is located 150 km north of Port Hedland, Western Australia, within approximately 90 m of water. It comprises a floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) with a Well Head Platform (WHP) connected via subsea flexible flowlines and risers. The 4 dynamic risers (2 production, 1 gas injection and one umbilical) connect to the FPSO via an internal Disconnectable Turret Mooring (DTM). Santos engaged Atteris to optimise the Lazy S riser system configuration previously selected as the most suitable option, identify potential limitations and perform conceptual design of the Mid Water Arch (MWA). An advanced stability assessment accounting for scouring was performed for the flowline / umbilical route between the FPSO and WHP. Field layout updates and definition of the WHP platform tie-in was also required.
Work Performed by Atteris

Atteris performed the following activities:

  • Dynamic Riser and Umbilical Lazy S configuration optimisation with most recent project data, focusing on refining the MWA positioning, geometry and buoyancy requirement
  • Flexible Flowline on-bottom stability assessment, including a re-iteration of the work performed in the previous phases, as well as an advanced analysis accounting for scouring to reduce the level of conservatism.
  • Preparation of design premises / specifications for Santos to issue to equipment Vendors:
    • MWA conceptual design and Functional specification This activity was carried out in collaboration with ICON Engineering.
    • Flexible pipe design premise and specification
  • Flexible Flowline tie-in analysis
  • Umbilical J-Tube exit definition
  • Field layout drawings
