Jansz Flowline Hot Tap Review

Jansz Flowline Hot Tap Review

Benefits
Atteris performed a concept study for Chevron to assess the technical feasibility of a zero downtime hot tap tie-in to the Jansz pipeline and define a forward work plan to close minor technology gaps in the concept. Atteris demonstrated that a full cut-in to the Jansz pipeline could be achieved without production impact, subject to incremental development of a selected vendor’s hot tap and plug isolation technology.
Background
A Chevron compression project was reconsidering a number of compression options including a shallow water compression platform concept. This required a cut-in to the existing Jansz flowline at a water depth in the range of 80 – 100m. A number of cut-in options were being assessed which entailed significant downtime, so Chevron wished to consider the feasibility of a zero-downtime hot tap concept.
Work Performed by Atteris

Atteris personnel utilised their personal experience from a previous North West Shelf  hot tap project  to assess the latest hot tap and isolation technologies and selected a number of suitable concepts for Chevron’s compression project.

The work included technical gap assessment of various hot tap and isolation technologies, concept definition of associated subsea structures and cost estimates for each concept.
