Woollybutt Decommissioning Support

Atteris provided analytical and engineering support to Sapura Energy for decommissioning of the Woollybutt Field. Atteris worked closely with Sapura and Marine Warranty Surveyor during design and offshore execution phases, to ensure the all the subsea infrastructure was successfully and safely recovered within the tight schedule deadline set by NOPSEMA.
Background
The Woollybutt Field is located on the North-West Shelf of Western Australia, approximately 65 km north of the town of Onslow and approximately 35 km west of Barrow Island. Production ceased in May 2012 with the flowlines flushed of hydrocarbons, wells shut-in and the FPSO sailing away in June 2012. Sapura Energy were contracted by Eni to decommission the Woollybutt field in 2022.
Work Performed by Atteris

Atteris was involved in the following tasks:

  • Reverse lay analysis for removal of flexibles flowlines and umbilicals.
  • Lifting analysis with OrcaFlex and rigging design for recovery of 105 Te gravity bases, subsea
    manifolds, wellheads, mooring chain, umbilical termination assemblies and more.
  • Seafastening design and deck layouts.
  • Estimation of suction loading during seabed retrieval.
  • Providing offshore support on the Sapura Constructor during execution.
