Angostura Detailed Span Assessments

Angostura Detailed Span Assessments

Benefits
Atteris performed a highly detailed assessment of flowline spans that arose in the operating flowline as a result of repeated lateral buckling due to a significant vertical buckle trigger and an inadequately weighted flowline. Atteris assessment accurately described the displacement mechanism, provided a probabilistic assessment of the fatigue damage, and fed into the operators decision making on mitigation options.
Background
The Angostura field Development is an oil and gas development located offshore the northeast coast of Trinidad. Due to poor initial design one of the original flowlines was susceptible to lateral movement resulting in significant spanning issues when the pipeline moved off existing supports.
Work Performed by Atteris

Atteris performed investigations on the available survey data to determine the cause of the identified pipeline movement and excessive spanning. Initial span analysis indicated unacceptable levels of fatigue. As such a refined fatigue analysis of key spans was performed including a probabilistic assessment of the possible fatigue considering varying distributions of key parameters. The probabilistic assessment assisted the client in making risk based decisions concerning the preferred mitigation approaches. Atteris supported the decision making process and provided detailed span rectification design.
