Browse Reconnaissance Survey Support

Browse Reconnaissance Survey Support

Benefits
Atteris’ assessment of pipeline route options during the concept select phase of the Browse project resulted in definition of the Browse survey scope. The Browse reconnaissance survey was specified and performed to maximise efficiency and minimise costs in the project’s early phase. Active ongoing interaction between the survey team, Atteris personnel on board the survey vessel, and Atteris office support team enabled rapid decision making based on reliable information and ensured the success of the survey scope.
Background
Woodside’s Browse trunkline, if installed, will be the largest diameter pipeline installed in water depths up to 500m. The survey scope included a number of route options on which scouting surveys were performed, followed by rapid assessment of the survey data and joint decisions being made on preferred route corridor options for more detailed survey.
Work Performed by Atteris

Atteris defined the route survey scope based on available data. As available data was severely limited in certain areas, numerous scouting route options were proposed.  During the course of the survey, Atteris personnel on board assessed the survey data as it became available, performed bottom roughness assessments as required in areas of uneven seabed, and liaised with Woodside and Atteris personnel onshore to make decisions and guide the survey as it progressed. The ability to perform detailed and rapid assessments of the available survey data was key to the success of the survey.
