Enfield RTM Decommissioning Analysis – Tender Support

Enfield RTM Decommissioning Analysis – Tender Support

Benefits
Atteris supported SapuraKencana in their tender to Woodside for the safe removal of the Enfield RTM. Atteris demonstrated that the proposed vessel was suitable for the decommissioning offshore operations, and that the RTM could be safely disconnected, upended and towed off-station.
Background
The Enfield Oil development is in water depths between 400 m and 500 m. The facility was installed in 2006 and is nearing the end of its economic life. Woodside plans to decommission the field. The risers and moorings are connected to a Riser Turret Mooring (RTM) and are to be removed from the field.
Work Performed by Atteris

Atteris undertook the following tasks:

  • Assess the capacity of the proposed equipment and demonstrate its suitability for decommissioning operations.
  • Develop recovery (for buoyancy removal) and laydown tables for the flexible risers.
  • Develop laydown tables for the mooring chains.
  • Assess the on-bottom stability of the risers when laid down on the seabed.
  • Develop and describe the disconnection process of flexibles risers and moorings from the RTM, including ballasting requirements.
  • Determine a suitable sequence for the RTM upending, including ballasting and structural calculations.
  • Assess the tow requirements of the RTM away from the Enfield site.
