Greater Gorgon Routing and Survey Support

Benefits
Using previously collected bathymetry and geohazard information, Atteris methodically and rigorously assessed potential routing corridors and infield areas in order to define the survey requirements. The pre-survey assessment work maximised the value gained from the offshore survey through pre-validating the proposed route corridors and ensuring all relevant factors were considered. The efficiency of the offshore survey and assessment of the survey data collected validated the benefit of pre-survey assessments.
Background
The Gorgon Foundation Project (GFP) processes gas from the Gorgon and Jansz-Io fields through the Gorgon LNG plant on Barrow Island offshore West Australia. The Greater Gorgon Development includes subsea tie-backs of additional fields to sustain LNG production into the future, including Geryon, Chrysaor-Dionysus, West Tryal Rocks and Clio-Acme.
Work Performed by Atteris

Atteris provided an experienced pipelines team equipped with in house developed automated engineering processes to propose refine and select route corridor options for survey for the various potential tie-backs. Route corridor selection included consideration of multiple issues, including geohazards, seabed roughness, and current and future field layouts. Given the challenging nature of the seabed in much of the development area a detailed route scoring algorithm was developed to allow efficient assessment of route corridors, and to present the information in a simple and informative manner. Following the survey, the collected data was assessed, confirming the surveyed areas as suitable and adequate for future FEED, and preliminary routes were defined for priority tie-back options.
